That's the same with me and others here as well.
If you want the CE and it's not in their system yet. Ask them to put a not under your name. saying that you want the CE version when it's released and have them call you when it is in their system.
Otherwise, the ppl who preordered CE will have first choice on it.

Depends on the retailer. As Mesti Arcanus said;

Contant your dealer and ask for certain. They may let you switch if they get it. On that note, I'm surprised no one has found it yet or ANet respond even to say they're looking into it.

It's a no win for A-net to respond at this point, as they obviously can't confirm that it's coming to Canada. So they can come on and say that they're looking into it but that wont appease anyone, and if/when they have to come back and say say "sorry Kanucks, you're sol" they'll just get blasted.

Your better off just going to the store and get it, online= problems and confusion.
And as you quoted me before about the 24-hour head start. YES you can play Factions without Factions retail key. 24-hours before the day, and during the release day. We get a free 48 hour play time, enabling us to play a day BEFORE and while we try to get out to the store or to NCsoft site to purchase the retail box or a direct cd-key for access.
The pre - SALE CD Key = 24hour ahead of release play time, plus the full day of release date.
Best Buys wouldn't know squat about our 24-hour ahead play time, whatever they see on the item's box, is what they know. (And yes it says it on the box)

We do everything we can to make these boxes available to you - at no cost to you - but there's only so much we can do when it comes to individual retailers. Because every retailer operates differently (quite often individual stores from the same retail chain have different procedures), the support team cannot give you a detailed response. They gave the best answer they can: ask the people who should know.
Can I suggest you try (if one is available where you live) an alternate retailer? You may find you get a very different experience.

How about giving us the option of skipping this overly-frustrating third party and ordering from you directly? Let new people see it in the store and get it that way, but I will send you my money if you will send me a copy of Factions by the release date (and a preorder key by the 24 hour jump start period).

It worked for Valve when they released HL2. I bought direct from them and DLed the game via Steam. Actually, much like Factions, the game was already on my PC. I just had to wait until the release date to activate it.

Yeah, and didn't it also cause some legal problems between Valve and their distributer?
In any case, NCSoft owns ArenaNet, so I'm not sure if Anet has any control over their distribution at all...

Still nothing in Canada about the CE. Apparently though we are getting the game a week earlier than the rest of the world. EBGames now has an April 21 release date for the regular edition in their system.

That wasn't there earlier today. Cool, but not a fan of the 3-5 business days shipping to Canada.

Because of this, I had the woman working there split my down payment on the original factions between it and the listing she had for the CE, though she told me they cannot assure that it will actually be released up here. Im praying it is, I really want that art book. I'm fairly certain this will all resolve itself closer to the release date, but up until now, its been an absolute mess.
Regarding the website: Thats an american Site. though it may have the listing, that doesnt mean anything when it comes to the Canadian customers. Our system up here apparently works differently. Just because its on the American site, it doesnt mean the Canadian patrons of EB will have the same offers, and or services.

Thanks for the link, but I also found this link from the same site.
Guild Wars: Factions Collector's Edition with Early Bonus! (INTERNATIONAL ORDERS)
If you read the red bold letters from the link above(or from here).

This Guild Wars: Factions Collector's Edition bundle will allow you to receive your Bonus CD with all the Beta Access information now, but due to international shipping rates you will be charged an additional $59.99 shipping and handling fee. If you would like to receive your game and bonus cd later and waive this fee please click HERE!
|
Meaning if a player buys Guild Wars: Factions Collector's Edition with Early Bonus, that players will have to puy $69.99+$59.99=$129.98. That to me is a rip. But from Kool Pajamas link, you don't have too. Is there some thing wrong here or is it just me?
*note the "click HERE!" link goes to Gamestop site.

LOL. It must be a typo. I've never seen anyone charge that much extra for international shipping. Maybe $9.99 or 5.99 might be closer.
